The Pancyprian Choir of NY with its Music & Artistic Director Phyto Stratis is part of the cultural dιvision of the Pancyprian Associasion of America.
The Pancyprian Choir came into existence in 1996 through the sponsorship of the Pancyprian Association’s Cultural Division, headed at the time by Mr. Christos Vrahimes and under the direction of its first maestro Constantinos Yiannoudes. Since its founding, the Choir has become a valued member of New York City’s artistic community through its more than sixty concerts.
The choir’s contribution goes beyond our annual Christmas and Spring Concerts. We now have E.O.K.A. anniversary events.
We sang for The Greek Children’s Fund, celebrating The International Children’s Day and UNICEF’S 68th Birthday, we sang at Athens Square, in a beautiful music festival organized by the Athenians’ Society and we celebrated Father’s Day with the songs of Marios Tokkas.
Most importantly, The Pancyprian Choir of NY, commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the Liberation battle of E.O.K.A 1955-59, under the general title Struggle For Freedom, with an original production named Episkepsi Sta Filakismena Mnimata.
We honored our Heroes and presented our production again, this time for the President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America.
The Pancyprian Choir of NY is composed by volunteer members. We continue to grow and continue a mission that started 20 years ago, to be the voice of hope, justice and freedom for Cyprus.
In June, we will celebrate our 20 years, with a big concert that will take place in Manhattan, guess starring one distinguished Cypriot artist, with a special appearance from the Pancyprian Dance Group and the official first presentation of the Pancyprian Youth Choir.
